Jamaica is outta here!
I told them I was perfectly fine with staying on as cubmaster for our pack... but they insisted that I move on to Achievement days with the girls. So it was fun while it lasted, but I must be moving on.

Webelos Artist Activity
For the webelos artist activity the first requirement is to talk to an artist about different occupations in the world. We are lucky enough to have Jared Beckstrand live in our area. Jared is an animator. He has worked on several Disney films including Tarzan, Treasure Planet, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Pocahontas, The Emperors New Groove, and most recently The Princess and the Frog. We had an awesome den meeting tonight at his house where he explained to us all the work that goes into making an animated film. He even made us our own bouncing ball! Here he shows us a cool picture he drew of President Hinkley that is in his home.
He uses this table with a hole in the middle, plexy glass over it, and a light underneath to be able to see what he's drawn on previous pages. He is creating our bouncing ball here. Then he takes pictures of each page that he drew our ball on and it goes onto his computer...

Webelos Day Hike
We left at 7:15 am and headed North to Brookside, UT just North of Veyo. We met all the other Webelos in the district at the fire station where we signed in and received instructions for the day. Then the hike began down the road and along the creek until we came to some picnic areas on the South side of Baker reservoir. It was a cool place next to the lake. There were 4 rotations. First we built camp fires. Second we tied knots and learned to build a shelter using a tarp and the knots. Third we practiced "leave no trace", made a poster, and picked up some of the other picnic areas down the road (there was a lot and we even found a pair of underwear!!) Then fourth we made rope! Then the boys from the Order of the Arrow served us lunch of dutch oven potatoes, corn, and sloppy joes, followed by a few games that they played with us and some Indian dancing and brownies! Then we hiked back and drove home. It was a really fun day.
